Kingston police are treating the recovery of a man's body in a gully off Highway 401 as suspicious, but not a homicide.

Forensic investigators remained on the scene of an embankment on Wednesday where the body of an adult male was found in a wooded area near Highway 401 in Kingston.

A police cruiser blocked off Station Road, located off Highway 15, as investigators wearing white suites continued to gather evidence.

Police discovered the body about 10 metres down an embankment on Station Road on Monday.

Residents who live in the area say they're concerned their neighbourhood has become the focus of a police investigation.

Pauline Kirkham said she often goes for walks along the embankment where the body was found.

She said there has been a heavy police presence in the area since Monday, adding that she feels uneasy about living so close to the site where a body was discovered.

Investigators say they are not sure how long the body was there, and would not confirm if foul play is involved.

The identity of the victim remains unknown. However, the remains have been sent to Ottawa for forensic identification.
