KINGSTON, Ont. -- An eastern Ontario man is facing an incest charge after an alleged sexual assault on his adult daughter.

Police say a woman was visiting her family in Kingston, Ont., last November and allege the accused entered the bedroom where she was sleeping and sexually assaulted her.

They say the woman called a friend who encouraged her to leave the house and then took her to hospital where she agreed to complete a sexual assault evidence kit, but she didn't disclose the incident to police.

Kingston police say they were made aware of the incident by a third party and the woman gave investigators a statement on Dec. 30.

They say a 54-year-old man turned himself in to police on Tuesday.

He is charged with one count each of incest and sexual assault.
