A halfway house in downtown Kingston is being closed, with offenders on conditional released being moved eventually to a minimum-security prison outside of the city.
The Portsmouth Community Correctional Centre, a stately home at 508 Portsmouth Ave., left neighbours with safety concerns about high-risk offenders congregating near a school and park.
Ex-convicts will be housed in a temporary complex at the Collins Bay Institution until a permanent facility is built on-site.
