The City of Kingston has been fined $60,000 after pleading guilty to an Occupational Health and Safety Act charge.
Construction workers were exposed to asbestos during renovation of the city's public utilities building last year.
Three weeks after renovations started, air samples confirmed the presence of asbestos and the project was shut down.
The court also imposed a 25 per cent victim surcharge as required by law.
