The residents of twenty homes near Kemptville are calling for help from their municipality and the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority after a sudden flood left the area around their homes underwater.

The flooding began Friday along Hilly Lane Private near Rideau River Road. The rising water was caused by the warmer temperatures that have been melting snow across the area.

Some residents have been forced to wade through freezing water to get to their vehicles. They say they weren't given enough warning from the conservation authority about the potential for flooding.

The RVCA is warning residents to stay away from watercourses as the floods continue to rise.
