Tina Ferrone of Kanata claimed one of the biggest jackpots in Ottawa's history today, a $48 million prize from last Friday's Lotto Max draw.

42-year-old Ferrone along with her husband, Liam McGee, picked up their cheque in Toronto today.

The family has three children and two dogs.

Ferrone says it was the first Lotto Max ticket that she ever purchased.

''It's beyond the realm of anything we ever dreamed about and that's hard to wrap our head about. I thought I won $48 thousand at first, and couldn't process what was happening", Ferrone told reporters at the OLG office.

Ferrone says she plans to spend some of her winnings to open a Yoga studio, and purchase a bigger home.

Her husband Liam has been off work for two years to battle cancer.

Liam is in remission now.

He joked to his wife "Does this mean I can buy a new truck".

The winning ticket was purchased at Independent Grocer on Riverside Drive.

Ferrone validated the winning ticket at the Shoppers Drug Mart in Kanata on Terry Fox Drive,.
