A 25-year-old man faces a sentence of life in prison after he was found guilty Friday in an Ottawa nightclub slaying that killed a high school student six years ago.

A jury found Carl Michel Belance guilty of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of 19-year-old Oladapo Agoro.

The killing happened at the former Sub Zero nightclub near the corner of Dalhousie and Rideau streets on June 7, 2002.

Witnesses testified the victim tried to break up a fight when he was stabbed several times.

Belance is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 3.
