A job fair in Ottawa had about 200 call centre jobs up for grabs Tuesday.

The job fair was organized following the announcement that Dell's Ottawa call centre would be closing its doors, laying off 1,100 people in the process.

Many unemployed workers on the hunt for jobs, though, said the job fair didn't offer the type of work they were looking for.

"Technical jobs are a little hard to find. There's a lot of call centres for customer support," laid off worker Craig Dods told CTV Ottawa.

"I'm not finding a lot of variance here," said Darren Partsch, who also recently lost his job.

"I don't think I'll find my next career here it's more looking for a job . . . until something better comes along, to be honest," he said.
