A man killed in a tragic construction site incident on Monday is being remembered as a kind, and loving man who would do anything for his family.
Donna Balcom-Lambert's husband Jacques Lambert died Monday at a construction site operated by LaFarge Canada Ltd. The Ministry of Labour said he was trying to dislodge caked-on concrete from a concrete truck when he was drawn into the unit. He was pronounced dead on scene.
Balcom-Lambert said she wants people to remember her husband as a man of the community who always put his family first.
"He would do anything for his kids. His kids were his life," she said. "We were his life."
Balcom-Lambert married Jacques 22 years ago. She said they hit it off after he valiantly saved her from an uncomfortable evening 27 years ago.
"We got together one night in a bar because someone wanted to get with me and I was trying to avoid them. He pretended he was my boyfriend and we have been together ever since," she said.
Tributes have been pouring in on social media for a man who was known for always lending a helping hand and for his upbeat personality.
"He leaves behind family and friends, but namely two very special children, Jordan Lambert and JJ Lambert that will carry his legacy for many years. Know that you have made him proud and he will always be with you. Be strong," Lambert's sister-in-law Kim wrote on Facebook.
"You will be greatly missed and never forgotten. May you find eternal peace and happiness!!!," Lambert's brother Ron wrote in a Facebook Post.
Friends have started a GoFundMe page to help the family with the funeral costs.
