CTV Ottawa got a glimpse of what life was like inside the Kingston Penitentiary.
Canada's best known prison closed its doors earlier this month. After 178 years, the Kingston Penitentiary no longer houses inmates.
While the federal government figures out what to do with the massive waterfront property, it has become a tourist attraction raising funds for the United Way.
The cells are now vacant but an imposing presence can still be felt throughout the institution.
