Hundreds gathered in downtown Cornwall Friday to say goodbye to Patrick Robinson, an engineer who was killed last week after a VIA rail train crashed near Burlington.
"He would want us to be happy for him," said his brother Ken Robinson. "And to continue on with his legacy, having a dream, having goals and achieving them."
The 40-year-old father of two was among three engineers killed Sunday when VIA Rail train 92 flew off the tracks near Burlington.
Investigators say speed was a factor in the crash.
From the time he was a little boy, Robinson's family said he dreamed of becoming an engineer.
"He was in his glory," said his brother Claude. "Nothing could change that."
"He was where he wanted to be."
Robinson leaves behind two children: Amanda, 12, and 10-year-old Logan.
"They knew it was their dad's train," said Margo Pepin, Robinson's aunt. "They had seen it on TV and said that's dad's train."
Robinson's family says it gives them comfort that he died while living his dream.
