Climbing an Elgin Street bar and rappelling down the other side.

Kayaking down the Ottawa River.

Navigating a "minefield" on Parliament Hill.

It was all in a day's work for the 900 competitors vying for supremacy in the Mitsubishi Motors City Chase on Saturday, the world's largest urban adventure that visited Ottawa this weekend.

They walked, they ran, and they used public transit in pairs to complete 10 challenges spread across Ottawa and Gatineau. Inspired by The Amazing Race television show, City Chase is part scavenger hunt, part obstacle course, and all fun.

"Each of these chase points is going to test them with a different physical, intellectual, adventurous and humorous activity," said City Chase director Dave Nash. "And frankly those activities are designed not only to provided a memorable experience but also to showcase the city of Ottawa."

The winners moved on to September's national final in Quebec City.

The event raised $20,000 for Right to Play, a charity working to bring sport to developing and war-torn countries.
