Ottawa police have found human remains near the former home of accused serial killer Camille Cleroux.

The remains were discovered in Fairlea Woods located in Ottawa's south end on Friday morning. Police began digging in the area on Thursday.

Police say they are not searching for new victims.

"The investigation involves three victims and this is relating to those victims," said Ottawa Police Chief Charles Bordeleau.

Cleroux is accused of killing his ex-wifes Lise Roy and Jean Rock. He is also accused of killing his former neighbour Paula Leclair, all over the past two decades.

Human remains were found in the backyard of his former residence last year.

One of Cleroux's alleged victims is his former girlfriend, Jean Rock.

She disappeared in 2003, and her body has never been found.

Rock's friend Diane says this search gives her hope.

"I just want to run over there and dig it up myself if I have to, she said. " I'm hoping it's her. We want closure."

Six months ago, landscapers stumbled on human remains in the backyard of Cleroux's former home.

They were later indentified as his first wife, Lise Roy.

Area resident Chuoi Reath say police searches in the neighbourhood are a grim reminder of the accusations against Cleroux.

"This is crazy," he said. "It drives people mad because you can get nightmare with that kind of stuff. You think about it, it's a real person. You see a lot of people you live nearby," he added.

Cleroux was in preliminary hearing for the three murder charges when they found the remains of his first wife Lise Roy.

He has yet to be tried in court.

Police say the remains will be examined by a coroner and they expect the dig for evidence to continue for the next few days.
