Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed a military man was home when an explosion leveled his house in Napanee earlier this week.

A post-mortem on human remains found at the scene confirms they belong to 35-year-old Patrick Painter, who worked for the Canadian Forces.

Investigators uncovered the remains Wednesday when they sifted through the rubble left behind by the explosion.

Painter's home on Queen Street blew up on Tuesday, sending flames to two neighbouring houses.

Although the Ontario Fire Marshal's office has not determined the cause of the fire, police say foul play is not suspected.
