Homeless live in Gatineau 'tent city'

CTV Ottawa: Homeless set up tent city in Gatineau CTV's Natalie Pierosara reports on the homeless setting up camp in a wooded area in downtown Gatineau. Why are they there?

In many ways it looks like any other campground but this isn't a getaway from the city.

In the heart of Gatineau, a few kilometers away from government buildings, the homeless have built a tent city.

There are also some homeless people living in RV’s for 3 to 4 months at a time in the parking lot of the nearby Robert Guertin arena.

In May, the city of Gatineau decided to shut the tent city down but some community groups who work with the homeless intervened.

Officials from the municipality will meet stakeholders on Wednesday in hopes of finding a solution.
