Here's how to elevate the bow trend this holiday season
Bows and ribbons are the trend this holiday season, whether on Christmas trees or clothing items, an expert from the Ottawa Valley says.
Designer Candace Plotz, from Candace Plotz Design, told CTV Morning Live she wants to share some easy ways to incorporate the bow trend into your home this holiday season.
Candle sticks
Plotz says elevating the look of candles is a must. She suggests adding bows to them, even if you only have two candles on the tables.
“It still makes a big impact. You can do single. You can double them up,” she said while showing her decorated candles. “Leave the ribbon long. Let it drape.”
Christmas trees
Plotz recommends adding bows to your Christmas tree, noting that there is no need for a lot of ornaments with the bow-decorated tree.
"Think about just adding bows to your tree this year. You don't really need to do a lot of ornaments with this look," she said while showing a small tree decorated with white bows.
She notes that either using one unified colour or different colours of bows work.
Holiday wraps
“And then of course, when it comes to holiday wrap, nothing says more than a beautifully wrapped present,” she added while suggesting adding bows to present boxes.
Both a single and a double bow can elevate the package, she says.
Plotz says adding bows to the tops of the items that you have in your home is also another way to incorporate the trend. She suggests adding a bow to the top of pictures on the wall, books, and ornaments.
“And it just adds an extra touch to it,” she said.
