A Hawkesbury man is in custody after he allegedly tried to kill a teenage girl early Tuesday morning.

Hawkesbury OPP said 18-year-old Nicholas Boudrias-Mayer, who knew the 15-year-old girl, allegedly picked her up around 1:00 a.m. and drove them around the town.

He then stopped on Front Road East in east Hawkesbury, when they both got out of the vehicle.

Police said Boudrias-Mayer allegedly started to assault the girl, gaining control of her and trying to kill her.

The female fought off her attacker and tried to escape, at what time police said Boudrias-Mayer allegedly hit her again multiple times before she convinced him to stop.

He then drove her back to town, according to police, where she was taken to the Hawkesbury General Hospital with non life-threatening head and neck injuries.

OPP said they were searching for a suspect overnight and into the afternoon when Ottawa police found Boudrias-Mayer in Ottawa.

He is incarcerated and his bail hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in Hawkesbury. He is also charged with aggravated assault.

Hawkesbury OPP say their investigation is ongoing.
