OTTAWA - With one goal Brett Gustavsen erased six years of post-season frustration for the Ottawa 67's.

The 18-year-old defenceman scored the winning goal 2:09 into overtime as the 67's eliminated the visiting Barrie Colts by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

"I saw the puck go in and saw the goalie was kind of off and decided to wire it at the net. The hockey Gods must have been with me because it went in the net," Gustavsen said. "An amazing goal and the biggest one of my life for sure."

Ottawa will now face the Niagara IceDogs in the Eastern Conference Championship.

It's the first time the 67's have made it out of the second round of the OHL playoffs since advancing to the final of the 2004-05 season. Since then the 67's have been eliminated in the first round five times and the second round once.

Steven Janes, Sean Monahan and Dalton Smith also scored for the 67's, who at one point in the series trailed 3-1, while Gustavsen added an assist for a two-point night.

"We were down 3-1 and guys didn't quit and again tonight we were down a couple of times and didn't quit," said Ottawa coach Chris Byrne.

Josh MacDonald, Greg Sutch and Mark Scheifele scored for the Colts.

Petr Mrazek made 28 saves for the win while Mathias Niederberger earned the game's second star by stopping 40 shots in a losing effort.

Ottawa went 1 for 2 on the power play as Barrie failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.

Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Championships will take place on Friday in St. Catharines at the Gatorade Garden City Complex.

Sutch opened the scoring for Barrie at 2:52 of the first period.

Smith responded for Ottawa at 11:41 of the second period to make it 1-1 after 40 minutes of play.

MacDonald restored the lead for the Colts at 8:49 of the third period but Janes tied the game at 12:31.

Monahan looked to have scored the winning goal for Ottawa with only 25 seconds remaining in the game but Scheifele kept Barrie alive with a goal with just seven seconds left in regulation time.

Gustavsen scored the winner on Ottawa's third shot in overtime.
