A “Good Samaritan“ from Cantley, Quebec was punched and bitten after trying to help a young man lying on the side of the road on Saturday.
MRC des Collines police say the 54-year-old man and his wife pulled over when they noticed a young man lying beside a bicycle on the side of Highway 307 in Cantley at around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The driver stopped to help, believing the man was a cyclist who was the victim of a hit and run.
Shortly after, another car also stopped, and the younger man started heading towards the car.
The 54-year-old man tried to hold the younger one back to avoid an accident, which prompted the young man to allegedly attack his helper.
The 54-year-old was taken to hospital with several bite marks, and a cut above his eye.
Police believe the younger man was intoxicated.
They arrested the suspected attacker at the scene. He faces assault causing bodily harm charges, and was released with the promise to appear in Court on Sept. 26.
