An Ottawa man has been charged with drunk driving after a five-year-old girl was struck by a golf cart at a Limoges campground Saturday night, leaving her with serious head injuries.
The girl ran in front of the cart at 9:15 p.m. at the Kittawa Camping ground on Limoges Road. The driver wasn't able to avoid hitting her.
She was taken by ambulance to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
Jacques Caron, 39, is charged with driving while impaired and causing bodily harm, and criminal negligence causing bodily harm while driving a motor vehicle.
Caron will appear in L'Orignal court on Sept. 30.
Police are still trying to determine what caused the collision.
