PETERBOROUGH, Ont. -- A 17-year-old girl is dead and three other teens are injured after a collision on a county road near Peterborough, Ont.
Provincial police say an eastbound vehicle was turning onto a side road Wednesday night, when it was involved in a collision with another eastbound vehicle.
Police say the second vehicle, driven by 18-year-old Kaitlin Gauthier of Lindsay, then crossed the road and crashed into a telephone pole.
Gauthier's 17-year-old passenger, who's identified as a Cambray resident, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Gauthier and her two other passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The other driver, 18-year-old Eric Fry of Mississauga, was not injured and no charges were immediately laid.
Police said they could not confirm reports that any of the teens were heading to their school prom.
