Ottawa police are investigating after a 10-year-old girl reported being asked to get into a stranger's car while she walked to her school bus stop in the city's west end.

Police say the girl was walking towards the bus stop on Medford Street when she was allegedly stopped by a lone male on Rosenthal Avenue in the Carlington area at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The male driver of the vehicle allegedly asked the girl to get into his car.

The man is described as a black male between 20 and 30 years old. He had short black hair in cornrows and apparently spoke English with a Jamaican accent.

Police say the man was driving an early 1990s beige Honda Civic or Honda Accord. The hubcap on the front driver's side of the vehicle was missing.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5944 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-TIPS.
