A python is now in the hands of the SPCA after a Gatineau woman found the snake in her bathtub last week.

The woman was going to take a bath in her apartment when she pulled back her shower curtain and found the two-foot long, non-venomous Royal Python slithering in her tub.

She called 9-1-1 and the animal is now in the possession of the SPCA.

It is believed the reptile made its way to the woman's tub by slithering through the pipes in the apartment building, perhaps after being let loose by its owners.

Apartment officials said the snake didn't belong to any of the building's tenants.

The incident happened on Feb. 25, shocking the woman who found the reptile in her bathtub.
