A 24-year-old woman from Gatineau is dead after an early morning crash in L'Ange-Gardien.

Sûreté du Québec say around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, a vehicle heading eastbound on Highway 50 crossed the median and slammed head on to another vehicle travelling westbound. The victim was ejected from the car on impact. She was rushed to hospital, where she later died.

The driver and other passenger of the vehicle that was struck both suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 25-year-old man from Blainville, QC, suffered minor injuries. He's currently in custody and expected to be charged on Monday with impaired driving causing death and bodily harm.

Sûreté du Québec continue to investigate.
