Gatineau Police have identified the three people found stabbed to death in an Aylmer home Thursday as 58-year-old Claude Levesque, his wife Louise LeBoeuf, age 63, and her daughter, 21-year-old Anne-Catherine Powers.
Police have a 28-year-old male suspect in custody in connection with the murders. Friends said Shakti Ramsurrun was arrested without incident by police near the crime scene with his 15-month-old child.
Friends said he and Powers were married, but she complained about abuse and was talking about getting a divorce.
The two met on a cruise in 2009 and were living at 64 Rue Felix Leclerc with the child and Powers' parents.
Police said he's an employee of the Rivermead Golf Course.
Officers were called to in the upscale, residential neighbourhood just after 1 p.m. on Thursday.
"It's really surprising, it's a really quiet neighbourhood with lots of young families and children," said Julie Schwartz. "It's not the type of thing we would expect around here."
"I think it could happen anywhere," said Christin Massie. "It's very bad for the people who live close to here and it's bad for the family."
The home was recently listed online as a bed and breakfast.
Police are also looking at a red Pontiac Montana van that was left at the nearby golf course, trunk and door open with children's toys seen inside.
