About 20 people had to be evacuated from the Rue Oxford homes, Monday evening, after a man was allegedly uttering death threats while in possession of a firearm.

Gatineau Police arrived at 39 Rue Oxford at about 8:20 p.m. and quickly created a perimeter around about 9 residences. STO buses were called in to safely evacuate 20 people from their homes.

Police say the 53-year-old suspect from Gatineau was arrested without incident.

He will face charges of uttering death threats with a weapon, possession of a prohibited/modified weapon, and breach of conditions.

The suspect remains in custody and will appear in court, Tuesday afternoon.
