An infestation of burrowing wasps has closed play areas in 21 parks in the City of Gatineau.
The city issued a news release Friday saying that play areas and swing areas containing sand in the following municipal parks are closed until further notice as a preventative measure:
Aylmer
- Parc Beaumont, rue Beaumont
- Parc Claude-Rioux, rues Alexis-Rajotte et Robert-Dorion
- Parc de la Croisée, impasse du Cadet
- Parc Lattion, chemin Lattion
- Parc Petite-Nation, rue Petite-Nation
- Parc Trois-Portages, rues Broad et Lacasse
- Parc Wilfrid-Lavigne, rue Wilfrid-Lavigne
Buckingham
- Parc Gendron, rue Judge
Gatineau
- Parc Beauvais, rue Beauvais
- Parc Camille, rue Camille
- Parc du Cheval-Blanc, rues de la Châteauguay et de Maltais
- Parc Limbour, rue Saint-Alexandre
- Parc Louis-Philion, rue du Curé-Labelle
- Parc Mingan, rues de Mingan et de Rougemont
- Parc Racicot, rue Sabourin
- Parc Robinson, rue de La Baie
- Parc Saint-Gérard, boulevard Maloney Est
Hull
- Parc Carré Vaudreuil, rue Vaudreuil

The city said signs will be put up in affected parks, and the city's website will have an updated list of the affected parks.
The provincial Ministry of Health and Social Services has been notified.
