There could be a garbage strike by the end of the month if Waste Management Canada doesn't reach a deal with Ottawa employees soon.

Sixty-five waste haulers and landfill employees at the Carp dump voted 95 per cent in favour of strike action.

CUPE, the union representing the employees, says the company is demanding major concessions to short and long-term disability benefits, as well as dental care.

If the workers go on strike, it would affect garbage pick-up for businesses, apartments and condominiums.
