A funeral procession for a fallen RCMP officer killed in Haiti will result in several road closures and parking restrictions across Ottawa’s downtown core on Wednesday.

The procession will begin at the Cartier Square Drill Hall on Laurier Avenue at noon and end at Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica on Sussex Drive.

Between noon and 1 p.m., the following road closures will be in effect:

  • Queen Elizabeth Drive between Somerset Street and Laurier Avenue (10:30 a.m. closure)
  • Laurier Avenue between Nicholas Street and Elgin Street
  • Elgin between Laurier Ave. and Wellington Street
  • Wellington between O’Connor Street and Nicholas Street
  • Mackenzie Avenue . between Wellington/Rideau to St. Patrick Street
  • Alexandra Bridge between Ottawa and Gatineau
  • Murray Street between Mackenzie and Sussex Drive
  • Sussex between Rideau and Boteler Street
  • St. Patrick between Mackenzie Ave. and Dalhousie Street
  • Guigues Avenue between Sussex Dr. and Parent Avenue

Parking will also not be permitted on St. Patrick St. (between Sussex and Parent); Guigues Ave. (between Sussex and Parent); Parent Ave. (between St. Patrick and Guigues); Mackenzie Avenue (between Murray Street and Rideau Street).

Following the funeral service, rolling street closures will be in effect to accommodate a procession from the Notre Dame Basilica to Beechwood Cemetery. Police advise no formal road closures or detours will be required.
