The title of Ottawa's Best Poutine might just be gravy for Fritomania in Orleans, who have already garnered their fair share of admirers.

The fry shack on Saint Joseph Boulevard has been open for over 50 years and served between 250 and 400 customers a day, many of whom go for their guilty pleasure specialty.

"We get the best cut fries . . . and homemade gravy, that's why we make the best poutine," said manager Sang Tran.

"I think it starts with the potato chipper and continues with Sang's dedication to poutine," said one long-time customer.

The rest of the top five nominees were Claude's Chip Wagon in Gloucester, Costco, JP's and S&G's near Carlingwood.
