A young man is in intensive care and three others hospitalized after taking the “date-rape” drug at a west Quebec party.

Police in the Outaouais said a large party was being held Friday night on the corner of chemin Donaldson and chemin Gorman in L’Ange Gardien.

They said they were called to the scene around 2 a.m. Saturday because a man in his 20s was unresponsive.

He was taken to hospital in Buckingham, along with two other men and a woman who were all in their 20s.

After investigating, police said the four people hospitalized had all voluntarily taken GHB, a drug commonly known as the “date-rape drug”.

Police said Saturday night that one of the men was in intensive care, while the other was still under observation. The other two had been released.

The municipality knew about the event, which drew between 300 to 400 people and no noise complaints.

Officers had paid a visit around midnight and said they found everything in order.
