A former leader of the Cornwall sea cadets has been sentenced to 15 months of house arrest and two years probation after pleading guilty to two counts of child luring.

Conrad Villeneuve, 51, apologized in an Ottawa courtroom Thursday for exposing himself online to two police officers who were posing as 13-year-old girls.

"He is clearly remorseful and he clearly understood the harm he did to the community and the consequences of his actions," defence lawyer Joseph Addelman told CTV Ottawa.

Villeneuve has since been suspended from the sea cadets, an organization that says it's been damaged as a result of the incident.

"I supervise all the sea cadet units in eastern Ontario and I can state with a reasonable amount of certainty that it has had a negative impact on the unit and the other units," said Lt. Darryl Rolfe of the Cornwall Sea Cadets.

Villeneuve's name will now be added to the sex offender registry. He is also prohibited from owning a computer and working with children under the age of 14.
