OTTAWA -- A sexual assault charge against a former Ottawa ride-sharing driver was withdrawn last year, according to the Crown.

Ottawa police said they launched an investigation in November 2020 after someone was sexually assaulted in a vehicle on Watters Road in Orleans.

A 26-year-old man was charged in December 2020 with sexual assault, harassment, and four counts of committing an indecent act.

CTV News Ottawa was told this week that in May 2022, the Assistant Crown Attorney told defence lawyer Ewan Lyttle that the Crown was withdrawing the charge of sexual assault against his client, Emal Nabizada.
