BELLEVILLE - The former operator of the Mohawk Liquidation store on the Tyendinaga Territory has been charged with three offences.

Andrew Miracle, 67, of Tyendinaga was charged after three people occupied the store on Thursday on Old Highway Two, 20 kilometres east of Belleville.

Miracle was charged with disobeying a court order, break and enter and mischief but two others who left the building when police arrived weren't charged.

A court ruling had forced Miracle to surrender the store to the band council of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte in March 2010.

Miracle bought the property from Shawn Brant and his father Ronald Brant in 2002, but the Brants didn't own it at the time.

Miracle disagrees with the judge's decision and wants the case reviewed by Minister of Indian Affairs.

The band council decided on Wednesday to put the store up for auction on Oct. 28.
