Michel Gratton, a journalist and press secretary for former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney has died.

Gratton, a 58-year-old father of three, was found dead in his apartment Thursday.

He was a longtime French-language political columnist who helped prevent the closing of Ottawa's Montfort hospital in the late 1990's.

As a journalist, Gratton worked for Le Droit, and Radio-Canada.

He is survived by his three daughters and six brothers.
