Two people managed to escape injury after their float plane partially submerged in the water after a failed landing on a lake in Ottawa's west end.
Ottawa fire officials say the plane landed on Constance Lake at about 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The pilot, a man in his mid-20s, says a strut failed as he touched down on the water, causing the plane to roll on its side.
The pilot and his female passenger were rescued by boaters who were already on the lake.
The water rescue unit with Ottawa Fire Services managed to secure the plane and set up material to capture any possible fuel or oil leaks.
Transport Canada will not investigate the incident.
