Police have recovered the body of a fisherman who went missing early Sunday on the Trent River near Rice Lake, southwest of Ottawa.

The man drowned while fishing with friends east of Peterborough.

Three friends were casting lines in the Trent Canal in the Village of Hastings when one of the men slipped into the water around 4 a.m.

Search and rescue aircraft from CFB Trenton and the OPP were called in to search for the man, who has since been identified as Jiang Hong of Toronto. One his friends said Hong was not a swimmer.
