Police have charged a 24-year-old Kingston man with first-degree murder in connection with the death of a man who was found lying on the street outside a home in a small community in the Upper Ottawa Valley.

Ontario provincial police say they found the man when they responded to a disturbance in Golden Lake, Ont., located about 150 kilometres west of Ottawa, early Saturday morning.

Police said 35-year-old Ashley Commanda, of Golden Lake, had obvious signs of trauma to his body. He was transported to Pembroke Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Ryan Andrew Guthro is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death. He is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Pembroke on Monday.

An autopsy on Commanda's body is scheduled to be performed at the Ottawa Hospital also on Monday.
