Fire officials say two people are homeless after a massive fire destroyed their home in Merrickville last night. Emergency crews were called to Land O'Nod Road around 11 p.m.

Firefighters from nearby fire departments were called to help battle the blaze. Fire started in the garage and quickly spread to the single family home. Officials say there were combustible liquids inside the garage that fed the fire.

The garage was full of specialty cars and equipment that were destroyed. Damage is estimated around $400,000.

Fortunately smoke detectors helped the occupants escape in time.
