OTTAWA - Authorities in Ottawa say a fire likely caused by lightning hitting a house has caused about $30,000 in damage.

Ottawa fire officials say the house on  Black Sage Crescent in the city's south end was apparently struck by lightning on Sunday night, causing the siding to catch fire.

Crews reported open flames in the walls on the second level of the house upon arrival.

Police and paramedics were also called to the scene as well as gas and hydro officials.

All residents were reported to have escaped the home and no injuries were reported.

Officials say there was minimal damage to the interior of the house.
