Paramedics were called to the scene at Charlemagne Boulevard near Bottriell Way after the female driver of a Honda Civic lost control of her vehicle and crossed into the eastbound lane, slamming into a minivan just after 8 a.m.

Paramedics treated the female driver of the car for life-threatening head and internal injuries. She was later pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Paramedics also treated the 62-year-old male driver of the minivan for neck and back injuries.

A 16-year-old passenger travelling in the minivan was not seriously injured in the crash.
