Sonoma County, California, United States

Savoury, meaty, juicy and mouth-watering. A surprisingly great Californian Zinfandel that borrows some Cab-like majesty, elegance and complexity. Ravenswood is your go-to Zin. Pair with inviting me over to dinner please.

Journey's End Gabb Family Winery Shiraz 2012

Stellenbosch W.O., South Africa

So mouth-wateringly delicious! The shiraz grapes are grown in the foothills of the Hottentot Mountains overlooking False Bay, thus Journey's End. The vines are planted in ancient mineral soils and benefit from cool coastal breezes. The wine is aged for 18 months in 3,000 litre oak barrels (very large so they don't impart a lot of oak flavour). Savoury and juicy with a meaty note that makes this ultra delicious. This is a full-bodied red that will tempt you to drink it too fast: it's that tasty. Aromas of fleshy black fruit and hedonistic happiness.

Williams & Humbert Walnut Brown Sherry

Jerez D.O., Spain

A lovely oloroso sherry that's not as sweet as a cream cherry; rather it has a terrific dark nutty, black toffee goodness (thus Walnut Brown). Try this sometime instead of tawny port with hard cheeses, toasted nuts or crème brûlée.
