Clos Malverne Le Café Pinotage 2015

Wines of the Week - CLOSClos Malverne Le Café 2015 is a full-bodied, perfectly balanced and well made Pinotage with coffee, mocha and cake spice aromas with chocolate covered coffee bean, ripe dark fruits and smoky savoury herbs on the palate. Fantastic value under $20 from the Stellenbosch wine region. The Pinotage grapes were grown in the Devon Valley owned by Seymour and Sophia Pritchard. Winemaker Suzanne Coetzee fermented the grapes in open fermenters and then used a gentle basket press. The wine was aged in oak barrels, 85% French and 15% American.

Wines of the Week - DU BOISFrom a vintage year that started off warm, then cold, then warm and then cool, Clos Du Bois' 2015 Russian River Reserve Chardonnay ended up with lovely white florals on the nose, elegant and vibrant with bright apple, pear and citrus flavours on the palate with toasty hazelnut and butterscotch flavours from oak ageing. Finishes long and vibrant with soft tropical and nutty notes.

 

 

Conde De Haro Cava 2015

Wines of the Week - CONDEMade in the traditional method from 90% Viura and 10% Malvasía wine grapes sourced from the Rioja wine region, there is a lovely freshness and elegance to Muga's Conde De Haro 2015 bone-dry, medium-bodied Cava. Brioche and lemon curd on the nose, bubbles in this traditional method sparkler are small and persistent with lime, lemon zest, vanilla and honey notes on the palate. Chill and enjoy as an aperitif or with brunches.
