The OPP are investigating a fatal crash on Highway 417 westbound near Nicholas late Friday night.

Ottawa police, OPP and paramedics responded to the crash scene at around 11:50 p.m.

They say a male pedestrian on the highway was struck by a westbound travelling vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene.

The pedestrian was then struck again, by a second vehicle, which Ottawa Paramedics say was an OC Transpo bus.

Paramedics say the victim was obviously deceased by the time they arrived. His identity has not been released yet, pending a post mortem examination.

The driver of the car that fled was located by Ottawa Police, and arrested for failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

OPP have arrested 24-year-old Fuad Ahmed of Ottawa, and released him on a promise to appear in court on January 5, 2015.

Highway 17 westbound between the Vanier Parkway and Nicholas was closed during the police investigation on scene, but has since re-opened.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with  information is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
