An east-end community is mourning the tragic deaths of three teenaged friends who were killed when their vehicle left a gravel road in a rural part of Ottawa early Sunday.

Police said two 19-year-old men and a 16-year-old girl were pronounced dead at the scene after their vehicle crashed into a ditch on an isolated stretch of road in Navan at about 1:45 a.m.

The lone survivor of the crash, an 18-year-old girl, was treated by paramedics and rushed to the Ottawa Hospital's trauma centre with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

"Apparently, they were all trapped inside the vehicle and with the vehicle on its roof and the damage that was reported, it wasn't a very pleasant scene for the paramedics," said Stephane Gareau of the Ottawa paramedics.

The identities of the victims have not been released. However, a Facebook group has surfaced in memory of Brad Rivington, Chris Sabean and Ginny Marko -- all from Navan.

The cause of the crash remains unknown.

Heuvelmans Road was closed between Colonial and Magladry Roads for several hours while investigators probed the scene.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 2481.
