An Arnprior man is dead after the car he was driving was crushed when it collided with a dump truck on Highway 7 at Dwyer Hill Road, early Thursday morning.

Ontario provincial police say the dump truck struck a 1998 green Cadillac when the truck entered the intersection on a green light at about 5:40 a.m.

John Pulcine, the 39-year-old driver of the Cadillac, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 24-year-old driver of the truck was uninjured in the collision.

The crash closed Highway 7 in both directions between Ashton Station Road and Hazeldean Road for about six hours.

Police say alcohol and weather were not factors in the collision. Police are continuing their investigation.
