Quebec wildlife officials have launched an investigation after the carcasses of 14 coyotes were discovered by an area farmer in Aylmer, Que.

The environmental group Eco-Watch says the farmer came across the heap of dead animals in a ravine off Baille Road, near Breckenridge Creek, which drains into the Ottawa River. The coyotes were all shot to death.

The organization says the coyotes were removed by Gatineau's animal control officers before provincial investigators could collect evidence from the scene.
