The Ottawa doctor who put almost 7,000 patients at risk for Hepatitis and HIV had previously filed a $3 million lawsuit against the Civic campus of the Ottawa Hospital.

Court documents show Dr. Christiane Farazli and her husband sued the hospital in 2009 for negligence relating to the care of the doctor's back injury.

Farazli is accusing the hospital of misdiagnosis.

Ottawa's Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Isra Levy said nearly 7, 000 patients at Farazli's endoscopic clinic in the west-end over the last ten years were put at risk of contracting Hepatitis and HIV.

Letters are being sent out to the affected patients.
