It was a second straight day of passion, patriotism and pandemonium for the huge number of fans out to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spend Canada Day in the region.

Their day began at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, where the couple handed out Canada flags to 25 new Canadians following a citizenship ceremony.

"When I realized they give it to me, I was like really? Who? What?" said Katherina Biella. "It was really awesome. The princess she's so open and William too, he's really nice."

As has happened throughout this short stint in Canada, crowds were waiting outside the museum, along their landau route to Ottawa, and on Parliament Hill for a chance to see and speak with royalty.

"(The prince) told me to put sunscreen on. It was amazing. Just so surreal," said Madison Dobson, who camped out at 4:30 a.m. Friday to have a prime spot. "To be here with my mom was amazing."

Those with powerful vocal cords could try to attract Will or Kate just by yelling their name.

"I was like oh my God she's coming over here. She's actually coming over here," said Karen Waller. "She had a big smile on her face it was like, ‘OH YES!'"

The average Canada Day attracts about 350,000 to Parliament Hill and the surrounding downtown streets. This year, that number was reached at noon.

Paramedics said that as of 4:30 p.m. they'd been called to help 135 people; one for a serious heart attack but the majority for heat-related reasons.
