Family and friends have identified a 19-year-old worker killed at a Kanata job site on Wednesday as South Carleton High School graduate Brad Ebbers.
Friends remembered the young man Thursday as a hard worker who knew how to liven up a party.
"Rest in Peace Buddy you brought alot of laughs and smiles to all our faces everytime we saw you," Shane Kennedy wrote on a tribute page set up on Facebook, a popular social networking website.
"I'll never forget the good times back in junior high Brad you were an outgoing friend and definately knew how to have a good time and live in the moment for sure. Such a terrible tragedy. Rest in Peace old friend," added Jason De Sousa.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Labour told CTV Ottawa Ebbers was delivering a pay stub to a fellow employee of Colautti Construction Ltd. when he was pinned between the bucket of a bulldozer and the large counter-weights of a crane at a residential development located near the intersection of Kanata Avenue and Keyrock Drive Wednesday morning.
Although paramedics tried to resuscitate the young worker, he was too badly crushed and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A manager who works for the company would not comment on the incident.
The Ministry of Labour is now working to determine if the Occupational Health and Safety Act was broken and whether charges will be laid.
